  "Chaetdorians," Nora filled in.

"Right. Maybe by going with them, we'll find our place in the universe. Maybe even meet someone... nice."

The dreamy expression upon Alice's face made Nora wonder if Alice already had someone in mind.

No, she couldn't imagine little, scared Alice going with a Chaetdorian male. They were large and imposing. Alice needed someone gentle and caring that would love her right. Not someone that would fuck her raw like Corr had done to her during their first mating.

"So where have you been?" Katie asked with a smirk upon her face when the conversation ran dry. Instantly, Nora felt her cheeks burn red. What should she tell them? She had never kept secrets from them in the past and the one time that she had, it hadn’t ended well. Looking around at the women that had become her rocks during the hard times and had always been there for her, no matter what, she knew what she had to do. She needed to tell them the truth.

"Well..." she began, only to be cut off when a loud bang sounded from behind the door.

"What was that?" Jessie asked, jumping to her feet.

"I don't know, but I'm going to find out." Moving forward towards the door panel, Hannah turned to ask, "How do I open this?"

"I don't know. Corr just seems to tap some kind of short code and he's through." His fingers tended to move so quickly that she couldn't register what he was doing in time to put it to memory. She would really need to learn how to work things like the doors and the food process units that Corr had shown her when he'd gathered them a meal to share. The food wasn't great but it was edible. Corr had promised that he'd have a word with one of the Technos about reprogramming them to produce food she liked.

“Corr?” Katie asked, a knowing smile upon her lips.

“Later.” Katie always did seem to know when one of them had gotten laid. It was as if she had some kind of sex radar.

"Well, I guess I'll just have to wing it." Hannah then proceeded to tap away at the panel, all the while loud noises continued to come from behind the door.

"Try this," Katie said, moving beside her.

"I don't think that's such a great idea," Alice cried as the loudest bang yet came from the other side, followed by what Nora could only describe as a bellow of pure rage.

  What was happening?

When the sounds suddenly stopped, Nora breathed a sigh of relief. But it was short lived.

Out of nowhere, Alice rushed forward, grabbing both Jessie and Hannah by the arms and dragging them away from the door. And not a moment too soon. As the door dematerialized into nothingness, a hulking figure appeared in the open doorway. A figure that, horribly enough, Nora recognised.

It was him. The male that had taken her from this room before, and delivered her to an insane monster that had wanted to... well, she wasn't entirely sure, but it hadn't been good. Where before, he had looked marginally sane, now he looked even crazier than the male he had taken her to.

What had happened to the guards? There had been at least three of the largest Chaetdorian males standing guard outside the doors when Corr had left her here an hour before. She hoped that they were okay.

As the male entered, his eyes locked on Alice, his fangs descending, making him seem even more menacing than before. The image before her was truly horrifying. Even though she knew the Chaetdorians had fangs, had seen and felt Corr's as they had mated, it still shocked her to see them now as the Warrior stalked towards her friend.

She could tell he was a Warrior now, his markings returning. They were faint, barely visible, but she could just make out the faded black lines upon his tensing arms.

"So fresh," he whispered, reaching out for her friend. “Just perfect for me.”

Alice was frozen still, just standing there as the male moved towards her. Nora could tell from the glazed look in Alice’s eyes that she was trapped somewhere else, her mind flashing back to a past Nora still didn’t know all the details about.

Deciding that she needed to do something, and not even thinking of her own safety, Nora dived forwards, hitting the male square in the chest and pushing him back. He didn't go far, just a step or two - and she knew that it was only because she had taken him by surprise that he did - but it was enough for her. She had just enough time to spin and push Alice back towards her other friends before large arms gripped her in an iron grip, dragging her backwards and out of the room. That seemed to snap her friends out of their shock.

  "Hey!"

  "Let her the fuck go!"

As one, the women raced forward, handbags in hand and ready to strike. The sight would have made Nora laugh if she hadn't been in the arms of a mad man. Or should that be mad alien?

Whatever the male had expected the reaction of the human women to be, it had obviously not been the one he got. The snarls and yelps of shock started with the first swing of a bag... Katie's bag as it happened. The woman had a habit of never emptying her handbag. Hell knew what shit she had in there at that moment.

  Chapter 12

The sight that met Corr and Teks when they reached the holding bay, was one that would forever be engrained upon their minds. The guards that had been stationed there, charged with watching over and protecting his mate and her female friends, lay dead upon the floor. Meanwhile Dekon – who Corr had no problem identifying as the cause of the guards deaths – stood cowering in a corner as three of the human females continued to hit him repeatedly with their handbags. One of the handbags looked very large and extremely heavy.

While Teks rushed forward to take control of the situation, calling for backup on his com-unit, Corr searched the area for his mate, finding her sat in a corner talking quietly to what he could only describe as a fragile creature.

Sensing his approach, Nora gave her friend's shoulder a light squeeze and stood to greet him. “Are you okay?” he asked, pulling her into his arms.

“I'm fine, but Alice is a little shaken. I think she will be alright though… with time,” she added sadly.

Corr wasn’t so sure. The woman was shaking, tears streaming down her face as she rocked back and forth in the corner. It was obvious to him that it would take more than time for this woman to work past her problems, her fears.

Once Dekon was taken away, locked in a detention unit next to his brother, Teks approached them. “You were right, brother. Dekon too has an advanced case of the madness. I am afraid we will have to delay our take-off by at least 24 hours while be deal with them, and check the rest of the tribes for any others showing the same signs. We cannot take the risk of others like them being aboard now that we have a mated couple among us.”

“Deal with them?” his mate asked from his side.

Turning to face her, Teks granted her with a rare smile, his hard eyes softening slightly. “They are a great risk to not only themselves and those aboard this ship, but to the humans upon this planet if left behind. It is best for all if they are destroyed.”

It was sad news, a tragedy that no Chaer wanted to happen to his tribe, but necessary all the same. Those suffering with the madness couldn’t be trusted upon the ship. And now that two of their males had been found to be suffering from it, they would have to be all the more careful to watch out for signs of it in others.

  ***

Laid in Corr’s arms, sweat covering her body, her breath still laboured from the most amazing orgasm she had ever encountered, Nora couldn’t help but smile. So much had changed in such a short period of time, but she could not have been happier.

After Dekon, the male that had attacked her and her friends in the holding bay, had been taken away, she had introduced Corr to her friends. She had told them all about how she and Corr were mates and that she was going to be staying on the ship and leaving earth with him and the other Chaetdorians. They hadn’t taken it well at first, Jessie yelling that she must have been taken over by some kind of alien parasite, just as Nora had known she would. But eventually, once they had seen how happy Nora truly was and that she had not been taken over by alien pa
rasites, they calmed down and wished her luck.

Corr had filled her in on the choice Teks was granting her friends, that it may not yet be goodbye. She hoped that they would all choose to stay, that they would take this chance. Hell, maybe they would find their mates among the Chaetdorians. It was a long shot, but Nora couldn’t help but wish that her friends would find the same happiness she had. And was it so wrong and selfish of her if she wanted that to happen among the same alien race that her mate was from?

“What are you thinking about so hard?” Corr asked as she curled up against him.

“I was just wondering about tomorrow.” Tomorrow they would be taking off, leaving the earth for good.

“And your friends,” he stated knowingly. “Do not worry, my mate. All will work out as it should. And who would not want to travel among the stars? I cannot wait to show you the universe, to show you all the wonders that your planet have been ignorant to all these centuries. It is truly breath-taking… but not as breath-taking as you.”

Looking deep into his eyes, she couldn’t imagine a sight more beautiful than the stars she saw in them. “I love you,” she whispered into the silence around them. She didn’t expect him to say it back, didn’t even know if love was an emotion felt by the Chaetdorians, but she had needed to let him know how she felt. And even if he never spoke the words back to her, she would never regret the events that had led her to him. She had found what she had always longed for, a man – or male – that she loved and who cared for her and treated her with respect. What more could she ask for?

Pulling her body flush against him, Corr captured her lips. When he finally released her, her mind spinning, he whispered the sweetest words she had ever heard. “As I love you, my mate. My Nora. Forever."

  Epilogue

"So what will it be?" Corr asked, looking at the four women before him. What they would decide, he did not know. He was just glad that Nora had already agreed to go with him. She would be upset to see her friends leave, but in the end she would get over it, be happy. He would make sure of it.

"Hannah?" he asked when they remained silent. Obviously they had not expected him to know any of their names, but he had learnt enough through talking to his mate to know who was who among the group.

"No." Her answer coming quickly and said with determination.

  "Fair enough. Jessie?"

  "No."

  "Katie?"

Where the others had seemed set in their refusal to join them, Katie seemed a little torn. Glancing around at her friends pleadingly for a moment, she waited. When Hannah and Jessie shook their heads, and when Alice refused to make eye contact, she sighed. "No."

Corr was disappointed to say the least. He wanted to make his mate happy and he knew having her friends along on this journey to find Chaetdorian mates, as well as a new home world, would make the changes so much easier for her. It seemed that was not going to happen.

Even though it was a waste of time, he turned to the last of the women, a frail thing named Alice. Looking at the clearly broken women, he asked, just as he heard the door behind him open, admitting entrance to someone, "What do you say Alice? Do you wish to join us on our journey?"

It seemed like forever before the small human female turned to face him and lifted her daze from the floor, though, she didn’t meet his eyes. Instead, her gaze stopped just over his shoulder, her focus completely upon the Slayer Chaer in the newly opened doorway.

“Alice?” he prompted again when she continued to stare, no answer forthcoming. “Do you wish to stay with us?”

For a few moments she said nothing, and then whispered words that sealed all of their fates.

  "Yes."

  A Message From The Author

Thank you so much for purchasing my book and I hope that you enjoyed meeting the Chaetdorians as much as I enjoyed writing them. Now we authors ask this a lot, but every review really does help. So please, if you could just take a minute of your time to revisit the site you purchased this ebook from and leave a review that would be fantastic. It doesn’t have to be long, a couple of words will do, but it really does help.

  Thank you again.
