“What took you so long?” she snapped.

“We can’t all just vanish into thin air and reappear wherever we want,” Teks argued back.

Bending down, Doc assessed his new patient. “Teks, help me turn her over so I can get a proper look at her. SIS, get someone down here with a medibed so we can transport her to the medibay.”

  “Already done.”

Heart pounding, though he had no idea why, Teks knelt down beside the female. “On the count of three. One… Two… Three.”

As gently as possible the pair rolled her over. That was when Teks’ breath stalled and his heart skipped a beat. It couldn’t be. Even deathly white and on the brink of death Teks would recognise her anywhere. The female from his dreams. His mysterious, completely impossible, Chaetdorian female. Though at the moment she looked stuck somewhere between human and Chaetdorian.

“This looks like blood withdrawal, Teks. How is that possible?”

Two Warrior males arrived at that moment, saving him from having to answer. Which was a good thing. He didn’t have one.

It was only when they got her to the medibay and removed the overlarge human garments she was wearing that they got a look at the full extent of her illness. It was worse than they had thought. Her flesh was blistering away, her markings – whatever colour they should be – failing to reappear. It was horrifying to see. But what broke Teks’ heart the most was the blood now pouring from her ears.

  “What do we do?

“I’m not sure there is anything we can do. None of our males got this far into withdrawal and you know how hard it was to pull them back. Hell, Gyst still hasn’t fully healed from the blisters and more than likely never will.”

“There has to be something,” Teks yelled, despair taking hold. For centuries, he had dreamed of this female, longed for a world in which she could exist. Now here she was before him, and he was going to lose her. She was his mate, his one chance at happiness and completion. She couldn’t die, not now. And she was Chaetdorian.

  How was that even possible?

He deserved answers. His males deserved answers. There had to be a way to save her.

“I wish there was, but at this stage in the withdrawal I think all I can do for her is make her as comfortable as possible.”

“No.” Shaking his head vigorously. “I will not lose her. I will not lose my mate before I even get a chance to know her.”

“Your mate?” Doc gasped. Eyes moving from the female then back to Teks rapidly. “You’re sure?”

“Positive.” He had never been more certain of anything in his life.

“Then there might be a chance… but it’s a long shot.”

“Whatever it is, do it.” There was nothing he wouldn’t try if it could save her life.

  “We give her your blood.”

  Say again?

“Mating Hannah, or more than likely Hannah’s blood, brought Hecto back from madness. And after mating with their mates, both Corr and Hex’s markings fully appeared even though they were still being weaned off human blood at the time. Hell, Corr had only just started the process. It should have taken weeks, if not months for them to start reappearing.”

“And you think my blood can help cure this?”

“I don’t know, but it’s the only thing I can think of which might.”

“Okay, let’s do this.” He would try anything.

Not wasting any time, Teks approached the cot. Looking down at his mate, he prayed that this would work. There were so many questions that needed answering. Like how? How was this possible? How did she exist? He could only hope that he would have the chance to find out.

Biting into his wrist, Teks used his fangs to tear his flesh open. Sliding his other hand behind his female’s neck, he tilted her head back and pressed his bleeding wound to her lips. “Drink, my angel. This will help.” At least he hoped it would.

It took a moment, but as his blood entered her mouth and coated her tongue instinct took over. The bite came quickly and only caused Teks a brief second of pain before euphoria took over. Pleasure unlike he had ever known flooded his body. Unable to stop himself, Teks lifted her wrist to his mouth and bit deep. Her blood flooded her mouth, her taste unlike any he had tasted before. He was surprised he didn’t disgrace himself and come in his leathers then and there. If he was honest it was a close call.

When she released his wrist, her head falling to the side as she fell into a deep slumber, Teks licked the wound he had created and took the bandage Doc handed out to him. “I wasn’t planning on doing that.”

“I know, but I’m not shocked that you did. It’s instinct.”

“Do you think she’ll be okay?” She had to be. Already the connection between them was growing. If she didn’t survive this, Teks didn’t think that he could go on. Knowing that his mate was close to death, that he might never hold her in his arms, never know her love, was more than he could take. He wouldn’t need to wait long for the madness to take hold of him. If she died, he would be lost to it in seconds.

“I’m afraid only time will tell.”

  Chapter 8

Temple was unconscious, but she knew that he was there. She didn’t know who he was, but she could sense him. She could sense him sat beside her bed. She could sense his blood running through her veins. She could sense him in her heart. He was hers.

Never in a million years did Temple think that she would find her mate, but find him she had. Now all that was left was to find out who he was, to wake up and see him with her own eyes, to touch him with her own hands and to taste his blood with her own mouth. The blood he had given her to save her didn’t count. And she knew he had given her blood. She could still taste it on her tongue. And she wanted more. She wanted to bite him herself, to bite him while he took her body and claimed her as his mate. But before that could happen, she needed to wake up.

  Chapter 9

“How much longer are you going to sit in here and stare at her? You do have a ship to command.”

It had been many moons since Teks’ discovery of the Chaetdorian female on board his ship, a Chaetdorian female who just happened to be his mate. He hadn’t moved from her side in all that time, he couldn’t, and SIS was not impressed.

“SIS, you are the ship's interface. The whole point in your creation was so that I could step away from the command deck from time to time.”

  “But not for this long.”

“Well maybe if you hadn’t of hidden my mate from me for so long then she wouldn’t be in this mess and I would be able to command the ship as I always have. Maybe then I wouldn’t be within half a mind of shutting you down.”

“You wouldn’t,” SIS gasped, eyes blazing.

No, he wouldn’t. No matter how much she pissed him off at times he was attached to her. She had been inactive for centuries and he had missed her. Still, if she continued to badger him over his reluctance to leave his mate’s side, he would have to teach her a lesson somehow.

“Push me too far and you’ll find out. And I am not leaving until she wakens and I know that she will be alright.” And then he wouldn’t be leaving her side for long, just long enough to freshen up.

Whether SIS was mollified by that answer or not he did not know but seeming to have no further argument for him she disappeared in a flash of light.

“I will never get used to her doing that,” Doc said as he entered the room. “Has she told you how she came to have a completed holographic program yet?”

“Totch.” The male had been his second in command, his dearest friend. There wasn’t a moon that went by that he didn’t mourn the loss of his friend or curse that fact that he hadn’t ordered him to take one of the new wrist units that Hex had just perfected before he went off on his travels. He had known Totch had been having problems with his old one. That was the only reason Teks could think of that explained why the male had not been wearing his when his shuttle had gone down.

“Whats that you’ve got?” he asked, noticing a st
range device in Doc’s hand.

“Fell out of your female’s clothing when I went to destroy them.” They had been too soaked in blood and puss to be saved. “Here, take a look,” Doc said handing the device over. “I’m no Techno, but it sort of reminds me of our old wrist units.”

That’s because it was one, though modified into some form of handheld device. How in the world did she get her hands on one? With the little technology available on Earth back then when they had updated their devices all the old ones had been handed in and dismantled for parts. Not one of the old wrist units had been unaccounted for.

  Well, except for Totch’s.

  Totch’s?

No, it wasn’t possible, was it?

“Doc, watch over her. Call me instantly if anything changes,” Teks ordered as he hightailed it out of there. If he was right, he might not only discover information about his unconscious mate on this device but he could finally get answers over what happened to his friend.

Teks’ cabin, with he being the commander of the ship, was much larger than others on board and comprised of multiple rooms, one being his own private workshop. That was where he took his mate’s device.

Upon his arrival, he wasted no time in hooking the old wrist unit up to his console. Every wrist unit was unique to its creator. And every Techno made it their mission to create and program their own, leaving their mark upon it in some way, be it physically or within the coding itself. And this wrist unit would be no different even with its obvious modifications.

It took him a few minutes to work his way through the unusual coding that had been programmed in, some of it quite remarkable, but he eventually found the base code. And within that base code, his long deceased best friend’s mark.

“So this was Totch’s wrist unit.” But where did she get it?

With more questions than before running around his head, Teks set his console to run some diagnostics and headed for his cleansing unit. Hopefully, he could discover some useful information from his tests.

He was just about to remove his clothing when his wrist unit bleeped and Doc’s panicked voice hit his ears.

“You need to get back here now.”

“Why? What’s wrong? Is she awake?”

  “Oh, she’s awake alright. She’s...”

Teks cut him off before he could finish. “I’m on my way.” Cleansing would just have to wait.

  Chapter 10

Temple was burning. Her skin was hot, sensitive. Too sensitive.

Even so, she needed touch, needed to feel the flesh of another against her own. She needed to feel a hard cock deep inside her. If only there was a male here.

One male had entered the room she had woken in, and she had tried to mount him the moment she had seen him, but he’d quickly scarpered.

Which was a good thing. The second she had placed her palm against the flesh of his arm she’d known that he was not the male for her. But still, her need was so great she wasn’t sure she would have been able to stop herself if he hadn’t of ran away so fast.

But there was a male out there that was meant for her, she knew there was… and she could feel him drawing ever closer, which was only making her desire worse. What was wrong with her?

Never before in her life had she felt this way. She had been turned on before, had felt desire, lust, but never on this scale. She wasn’t sure how much longer she could take it. So far she had stayed in the room, not tried to escape, trusting that her male would come to her. But if he took much longer she wouldn’t be able to contain herself and would force her way out in order to find him. Problem was, her need was so strong that she wasn’t sure she could keep herself from jumping and mounting the first male she saw, be it him or not.

  Chapter 11

“What’s wrong with her?” Teks asked Doc as they stood together watching his mate on the view screen. The second he had entered the medibay Doc had dragged him through into his office and turned on the console.

When he had left his female had been sleeping soundly, dressed in a medical gown. Now she was on her feet, agitated and naked. Her skin was still raw, no hint of the markings he had hoped his blood would have helped bring out. And her eyes were pale grey as if stuck mid-transformation. She also seemed to be in a tremendous amount of pain.

“I believe your blood triggered some sort of mating heat within her. And judging by her vitals, it's killing her. Her temperature is rising so rapidly that she will burn out within the hour if we don’t do something soon.”

“Then what the fuck are you waiting for? Get in there and help her,” Teks yelled. He couldn’t lose his mate, not now, not ever.

“I tried, but the moment I stepped foot in that room she attacked me. The mating heat is riding her too hard. She will attempt to mount any who step foot in there.”

Teks couldn’t help the growl that escaped his throat at the thought of his mate with another male. It took everything in him not to rip Doc’s head off for having his mate’s hands on him. He could scent her on the male’s clothes. But that scent had been there before he left, what with her being the male’s patient, so he withheld himself.

“You need to complete the mating, Teks. You have exchanged blood with her, an important part in claiming a mate, but you have yet to fill her with your seed. I believe that is the missing element here. Your seed will help her through this heat and aid her body’s healing. If you don’t, I am afraid your mate will die in agony.”

Yeah, like he was going to let that happen. He just hoped it worked and his mate wouldn’t hate him for claiming her in that way without them officially meeting first. Fuck, he didn’t even know her name.

  “Turn the feed off.”

  “But…”

“No buts. I allowed the filming of the twins mating due to the danger their female was putting herself in. I will not allow the filming of my own.”

He could see Doc wanted to argue but the male remained quiet. He understood his need to observe. So little was known about the power of mating. The fact that Hannah had brought Hecto back from madness and Nora had brought Corr’s markings back instantly without the need of weaning him off human blood, left them with a million and one questions. But Teks would not allow his mate to be a science experiment. The circumstances of their first mating were bound to be upsetting enough for her as it was. He would not risk upsetting her more by allowing Doc to record the footage and study it.

With a few clicks, the screen went blank. Nodding in thanks, Teks headed to the examination room his mate was being kept in. As he drew closer to the door he began to sense her arousal, scent it in the air. All his worries melted away as desire and need pumped through his body, his shaft swiftly hardening to the point of pain.

  He needed her.

  Wanted her.

  Now.

He was officially lost to the mating heat.

  Chapter 12

Temple had sensed his presence on the other side of the door and was ready for him before it disintegrated. He hadn’t even taken one step towards her and she was on him, ripping off the leather vest that hid his muscled chest from her and quickly moving on to his trousers. She needed him bare, naked for her exploration. She was already naked, her skin too sensitive for the plain hospital gown she had woken in.

His lips claimed hers in a bruising kiss and any sanity Temple could still claim to have vanished. The taste of him, the feel of him, it drove everything but her need to mate out of her mind – not that there had been much else to begin with. All that mattered in that second was getting her mate naked so he could fill her and pump her full of his seed, complete the mating.

It took some work - her mouth never leaving his - but finally, her hands met flesh instead of the leather. Her male growled, biting her bottom lip hard when she wrapped her hand around his large girth. And large he was. She wanted to explore it, taste and caress every inch of it, but there was no time. She needed him now.

Ripping her mouth from his, Temple flashed her fangs. “Claim me
,” she ordered.

The world spun, her male accepting her order, lifting her off her feet, turning around and pressing her up against the now sealed door panel. Instinctively she wrapped her legs around his waist, releasing a gasp when his hard cock rubbed against her clit.

“Mine,” he growled, impaling her with his ginormous shaft in one hard thrust. Temple screamed, the mixture of pleasure and pain his entrance induced pushing her right over the edge. She had never come so fast in her life but it seemed her oversensitive body didn’t need too much prodding to find release.

The pace was frantic, her male thrusting into her over and over in quick succession. All Temple could do was hold on and enjoy the ride.

“Mine,” her mate growled in her ear. “My mate. My heart. My dream.”

Despite that first orgasm, her pleasure built again quickly, flooding into every molecule of her body. This wasn't love making, this was fucking, claiming in its most natural form, but she still felt treasured, desired. He was rough but still made sure she was comfortable, his hand protecting the base of her spine, taking the brunt of the bashing.

When she reached her peak again, not able to hold off the storm any longer, instinct took over. With a growl she bit deep into his neck, her fangs piercing his flesh, and drank in some of his blood. Consuming blood had become a regular thing for her since she reached maturity and her markings came but never had she enjoyed it… until now.

With her fangs still buried deep in his neck, Temple screamed as pleasure, unlike anything she had felt before hit. Her pussy clamped down on his shaft, spasming around him. Feeling him thicken even more inside her, knowing that he was nearing his own release, she withdrew from his neck, lapping at the droplets that had escaped. Twisting her head to the side, Temple offered her neck to him. He moved so fast that his bite took her by surprise even though she had been expecting it. There was no pain, just pure unadulterated pleasure.

Too much for her mind to take, apparently. With one last thrust, her mate roared, pumping her full of his seed, sealing his claim on her. Then darkness descended.
